My work celebrates Place as an instigator for embodied awareness. In this sprit, I value the Homebody and the Tourist as privileged identities with which to negotiate the big frictions and quiet comforts when moving through the world. Adopting languages from visual art, design, writing, and performance, my practice is concept-driven, materially unfaithful, and unapologetically optimistic. Its rhythm grooves on a Beach Time that is decidedly Californian and its flavor swells with the aggressive spiciness of my Comfort Food, ikan rica rica: this Indonesian-style baked whole fish, smothered in chili paste, will antagonize and satisfy.
This website has been designed by The Future. It’s set in Life by Francesco Simoncini, a font that I’ve lovingly used in projects, proposals, and casual note taking since 2012, where it debuted, rather boldly, on the screen-printed dust jacket of Just… (for this design cue, and many others, I owe B.C.). Feeling bold? Click the bottom right icon to inverse the color scheme. Pressing "enter" at any time will toggle image sizes.
